Siyanda Hlanganyana, Team Leader of the Genesis Farms, recently did training with people from age 18 and older, who’ve shown an interest and passion in the agriculture industry that includes aquaponics, hydroponics, tunnel production and open field farming.
Hlanganyana and the team covered five workbooks and quality work experience, where they did practical work experience such as harvesting fish, spinach, peppers, working with the irrigation system and how to mix nutrients for a certain type of crops and how to maintain the plants.
The workbooks the youth managed to cover are as follows: plant crops under supervision, fertilise soil and attend to basic nutrition, apply basic food safety practices and more.
Their positivity and energy proved their dedication and the fact that there are passionate people who are interested in the agriculture industry with or without getting paid for building their knowledge and gaining experience. On the Friday, 5 May the team successfully completed their training.
