Nominations for the 2023 National Teaching Awards (NTAs) are now open.
The NTAs are an opportunity to recognise teachers for their outstanding work throughout the year. David Maynier, Western Cape Minister of Education, said previous winners have gone on to achieve amazing things in the department, “so we can’t wait to see what this year’s winners will bring to the table”.
Maynier said their Provincial Teaching Awards are scheduled to take place at the end of August this year, and the provincial winners will go on to become our nominees for the National Teaching Awards in October.
“Our teachers excelled at the national awards last year, with six of our nominees placed in the Top 3 nationally. Four teachers won at the national competition, with the remaining two placed second in their categories.”
Maynier adds that they are confident that this year’s provincial winners will achieve similar success on the national stage.
All teachers, School Governing Bodies, and district officials are invited to submit nominations to their principals or centre managers.
A circular with the nomination guide and relevant application form has been sent to all schools.
