It was an evening filled with celebration and the Christmas spirit. The NGO Heavenly Haven Retreat hosted a Christmas in July event at Boesmanland Plaaskombuis in Langebaan on Saturday 15 July.

Ruth McPherson of the West Coast NGO explained Christmas doesn’t have to come only once a year and the event proved exactly that. She said the purpose of the event was to raise awareness of Heavenly Haven Retreat, which teaches women to live successful, honest, productive lives away from the toxic destructive behaviours of their past, and acknowledge all its sponsors for their contribution to its 2022 Walk for Recovery event last September.

McPherson said the event was a huge success with about 305 people present. She thanked everyone for their support, sponsorship and/or assistance.

The 2023 Walk for Recovery is set to take place in September. Heavenly Haven Retreat aims to hand up to 1 000 T-shirts to those who take part and need help in realising this. If people wish to donate T-shirts they can contact McPherson on 060 305 4590.
