More than 3 000 learners from Louwville High School and Masiphathisane Primary School in Vredenburg received nutritious daily meals in a new dedicated space.

The initiative is part of the Oceana Group’s ongoing Food Security Project in the West Coast in conjunction with the Peninsula School Feeding Association.

A few months after launching the programme at HP Williams Primary School in Stompneus Bay, where the new containerised kitchen now provides breakfast and lunch for all 502 learners, the group remained committed to reaching even more learners.

With the addition of the two schools, learners will have a dedicated, refurbished space to enjoy the meals from the on-site kitchen. The schools also received some new kitchen and cooking equipment and training for food handlers such as food preparation, safety and hygiene.

Oceana also donated refurbished laptops, garden tools, school signage, and made further commitments for support in 2024.

Zodwa Velleman, Group Executive of Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, said this was a proud day for the firm and an important milestone in its ongoing commitment to the communities in which the business operates. “We aim to reach as many schools as possible and through these partnerships continue to impact lives positively,” she added.
