The Paternoster Project Hoopsig YeBoneers, a group of dedicated young individuals embarked on a vibrant street parade on Thursday 26 October.
The occasion was none other than their fourth annual Lights Out Campaign, a project born from YearBeyond’s commitment to nurturing the talents and passions of our youth.
The journey began at St Augustine’s Primary School and continued through the enchanting streets of Paternoster. This parade marked their participation in the International Lights Out Campaign, celebrating the collective effort of individuals and organisations striving to close the opportunity gap for our children and youth.
Safety was paramount throughout the event as the YeBoneers extended an invitation to the local traffic department to ensure the safety of both the children and the community. Their dedication to road safety exemplified their commitment to the welfare of the town.
The Hoopsig YeBoneers, under the guidance of their mentor, Luanca Engelbrecht, truly shone in making this project a success. Their hard work and determination was evident in the enthusiasm and energy that radiated from the parade participants. This event not only celebrated their own achievements but also symbolised a brighter future for the youth of Paternoster.
Ultimately, the Hoopsig YeBoneers’ street parade was a remarkable showcase of the power of youth and community collaboration. It illuminated the streets, not just with lights, but with hope and dedication to closing the opportunity gap for the next generation. Paternoster Project Hoopsig are immensely proud of the Paternoster Project Hoopsig YeBoneers, their mentor, Luanca, Hoopsig staff and German volunteers for bringing this project to life.
