The VHS The Youth Market is open to the public, and there will be a little of everything for everyone.

Vredenburg High School turned 50 this year, and the ongoing celebrations are being rounded off with a Youth Market on Saturday 9 December.

It aims to provide the school’s learners with a secure platform where they can earn pocket money with the sale of home-made products. According to JuneBé du Preez, market coordinator, it can also serve as a starting place for the future where they can earn an income after completing their school career.

“Everyone knows that the youth unemployment rate in the country is very concerning, and by empowering our learners to think like entrepreneurs we encourage them to use their talents to create an income in a creative and honest way.”

The Youth Market is open to the public, and there will be a little of everything for everyone – sweet treats, savoury snacks, jewellery kebabs and so much more. There will also be a braai and the music group will oblige by making mini-sliders.

Du Preez said the learners were excited about the market and looked forward to the support of the public. Lemfvia Craill, deputy principal of Vredenburg High, said the school saw it as rather fitting to end its 50th anniversary year with such an initiative. “This yet again is an example of how we strive to create the best learning experience for all learners and enable them to be responsible young adults who will help to enrich our community. Only the best satisfies.”

Make sure you make your way to support these learners.

The market will take place from 09:00 until 15:00.
