The St Helena Sandveld Hospice situated in Saldanha is closing its shop doors.

Up and running for 12 years and has served as a hub for the local community fostering a sense of connection and compassion.

Jill Snyman, patient-care manager, said this difficult decision came after a comprehensive evaluation of the organisation’ strategic priorities and resource allocation.

She said the St Helena Sandveld Hospice acknowledged the dedication and support of their loyal customers, volunteer and staff members who had been instrumental in the success of the hospice shop. “Their commitment to our cause has made a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve. For those who have supported the hospice shop, we express our deepest gratitude.”

Snyman added the St Helena Sandveld Hospice remained dedicated to its overarching mission, and this strategic decision allowed it to focus on more effective ways to serve the community and fulfil its mission. “We thank everyone for their understanding and continued support,” she said.

Donations and contributions will still be accepted at the Langebaan shop located at Shop 2 in De Stompehoek street, Langebaan and the Vredenburg shop in 10 Plein Street.

“Our commitment to the community remains unwavering,” Snyman said. “We thank everyone for their understanding and continued support.”

The final day of trading at the hospice shop based in Saldanha will be today (Thursday 14 December).
