In the first category, schools were awarded in terms of improvement in pass rate, greatest increase in the percentage of candidates achieving access to Bachelor’s degree studies, improvement and excellence in individual subjects and excellence in academic performance.
The West Coast’s very own Diazville High School excelled and was awarded as one of the schools who had the greatest increase in the percentage of Bachelor’s passes and outstanding improvement in Afrikaans Home Language.
Paul Haricombe, principal of Diazville High School, said they are particularly delighted and proud of the two awards which they received from the Western Cape Government.
“The awards confirm that through hard work, sacrifices and perseverance many things are possible,” said Haricombe. “Our class of 2023 made us particularly proud with the quality of their results, 86 of our 161 candidates got Bachelors passes. This gives them access to universities and technicons.”
