A heaviness lingers in the air over the Weskus this week following several fatal collisions that ripped five people from their loved ones and left the community reeling in shock and dismay.
Tragic incidents like these often leave one questioning life and why people have to go through such heartbreak, especially on the brink of the Festive Season which is usually the time of year where friends and family who don’t always have the opportunity to catch up during the year, try to make the most of the time they get to spent together over the joyful season. Something that will now be a time of mourning and remembrance for those who have lost loved ones this week.
In tribute, we have changed the colour of our masthead to black this week while we mourn the loss of five bright souls. Think of those injured on the road to recovery and the emotional scars this tragedy leaves and another who has lost her source of income and worries about the livelihood of her workers. These events have impacted the lives of every person in the Weskus and brings a different perspective and outlook on life.
As we head closer to the Festive Season let us take it upon ourselves to look out for others, ourselves and loved ones. Let us make wise decisions and practise patience.
