Langebaan Police Station walked away with two awards: It achieved first place in the overall neatness category in the Saldanha Bay Municipality and second place in the overall neatness category within the West Coast District.

Station commander Capt Kim Whittonsaid she felt proud her station had been presented with these awards.

“Receiving them is the culmination of hard work and team effort. I know Langebaan police received a similar award many years ago, so I am happy that they achieved this again while under my command.

“Should these awards be presented again in 2026 rest assured Langebaan police will strive towards achieving first place overall.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the award recipients, including Doring Bay Police who received the 1st place overall award, and St Helena Bay Police, who were awarded the ‘Most Improved Station’ award.”

Op what contributes to the station achieving this award Whitton said it is pride, dedication and the unwavering commitment towards the community that plays a role.

“Honestly, this is ultimately what contributed to Langebaan police achieving this award.

“While most, if not all, police stations struggle with resources Langebaan strives towards providing excellent service to the community.

“Unfortunately, most of the time, members of the public visit the police station not out of want, but necessity, mostly after experiencing trauma, crime or needing other services.

“Because of this it is important that a police station create a welcoming and calming atmosphere.

“It also instils a sense of pride not only for the community, but also for the Langebaan police personnel.

“The support and involvement of Langebaan Community Policing Forum, Team Langebaan Neighbourhood Watch, Long-acres Neighbourhood Watch, Langebaan Residents Association as well as all other role-players and the Langebaan community, was vital to this success.

Whitton thanked everyone who had walked the journey with Langebaan Police Station.

“This achievement is a testament to what a shared vision and teamwork can achieve.

“I look forward to your continued support and commitment in 2026, in striving towards our shared vision of creating a safer Langebaan for the community and visitors.

“I would also like to wish all these role-players and the Langebaan community a blessed and safe festive season. Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all.”
