Dr Joseph Joshua ran a free dental clinic at Dial Rock Hall in Saldanha on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 August, and saw around 95 patients.
Among these about 80 had dental abscesses, for which he gave free post-operative medication – amoxicillin, metronidazole or clindamycine. “Everyone who came to the clinic received paracetamol, voltaren, three toothbrushes and five tubes of toothpaste. They also got soup, bread, water and hotdogs.”
This is one of a series of clinics Joshua is running this month, the last one at Dial Rock on Saturday 16 August. Patients must bring their identity documents and children’s clinic cards. From Monday to Wednesday it will take place from 11 to 13 August at Steenberg’s Cove Hall in St Helena Bay, and Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 August at Laaiplek Noordhoek Civic.
