The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) hosted a Partner-A-District workshop at the Lejweleputswa district offices in Welkom.
The workshop was held on 7 November.
The primary purpose of the DBSA is to promote economic development and growth, human resource development and institutional capacity building by mobilising financial and other resources from the national and international private and public sectors for sustainable development projects and programmes in South Africa.
The workshop was attended by the leadership of five municipalities falling under the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, namely Matjhabeng, Nala, Tswelopele, Masilonyana and Tokologo.
The Matjhabeng Municipality, which was well represented, was led by the acting municipal manager Thabo Panyani, who demonstrated the willingness of the municipality to take full advantage of the DBSA’s offerings in the interest of improving service delivery.
The leadership of the DBSA, led by the head of municipal financing who is also acting as head of local government support, Ben Mokheseng, set the scene, explained the purpose and also their expectations of the gathering.
Mokheseng pledged to support all the propositions brought by the respective municipalities, which included: infrastructure development, revenue enhancement collection programmes and capacity building.
