WELKOM – Welkom police are appealing to the public for information following a violent house robbery in Doorn that left a woman assaulted and robbed before the same property was targeted again two days later.

According to police, the robbery occurred at about 01:30 on Saturday, 4 July at a house in Lindi Street, Doorn.

It is alleged that four men forced their way into the residence before breaking open the bedroom door where a mother and her two minor daughters had locked themselves.

Police said the suspects demanded money from the woman and allegedly assaulted her during the ordeal.

The suspects allegedly instructed the victim to open her banking application and transfer money between her accounts. Two of the suspects left the house with the victim’s two bank cards and three cellphones, while the remaining two stayed behind. They later fled the scene. The incident was reported to the police.

Two days later, on Monday, 6 July, the same property was reportedly targeted in a housebreaking. Police that the suspects used a house key to gain entry.

Following up on information received during the investigation, police arrested a 44-year-old man who is believed to be linked to the crimes.

The remaining suspects are still at large, and the investigation is continuing.
