Fighting polio, together

Vista’s editor, Marti Will, was one of the “patients” who, in an effort to support Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Flamingo Welkom in their endeavour to eradicate polio, lay in a fake iron lung on 9 November. The “hospital” was situated in the foyer of Entrance 2 (Rhino) at the Goldfields Mall. Members of the public paid the patients’ “medical bills” by making a donation towards the fund. Flamingo Rotary managed to raise R33 864. The Goldfields Sunset Rotary Club was invited to help the Flamingo Rotary Club raise funds. The president of Sunset, Joyce Magadla, joined forces in the mall, and avidly took part in the fundraising on the day. Pictured with Will is Zack Lombard of the Flamingo Rotary Club.
