The District Communicators Forum Meeting was convened on 18 February at the Lejweleputswa District Municipality boardroom to strengthen coordination, information sharing, and alignment on government communication within the district.

Key discussions focused on improving communication around service delivery programmes, ensuring consistent messaging across local municipalities, and enhancing public awareness of ongoing and planned development initiatives. Emphasis was placed on proactive communication, timely dissemination of information, and accurate reporting.

Members reviewed current communication challenges, including misinformation, delayed feedback from departments, and limited community engagement in some areas. Strategies were proposed to address these challenges through integrated communication plans, regular content sharing, and increased use of digital and community media platforms.

Collaboration is important

The meeting further highlighted the importance of collaboration between communicators, political leadership, and senior management to support accountability, transparency, and public trust.

Action points included strengthening intergovernmental communication structures, improving monitoring of communication outputs, and scheduling regular follow-up meetings to track progress.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to position communication as a strategic tool for development and service delivery within the district.
