The Virginia police have launched a manhunt after the owner of a silver Mazda was robbed of her vehicle at gunpoint in Meloding, Virginia.

On Wednesday (17/05), a 34-year-old woman was travelling with her sister in her Mazda 5 sedan, registration number B352 BBG, to drop said sister off at her residence in Cetswayo Street, Sloja Section.

Upon their arrival, the woman parked in front of the house and switched off the engine. A white Nissan double cab bakkie, with unknown registration numbers, stopped next to her vehicle and one of the Nissan’s five male occupants approached her. He hit one of the Mazda’s doors and instructed the woman to get out of the vehicle.

The suspect, wielding a handgun, pulled the Mazda owner out and instructed both sisters to lie on the ground.

The suspect asked whether there were any children inside the vehicle, after which he drove off with it. At the corner of the street, one shot was fired but no-one was harmed.

A case of carjacking was registered for further investigation. The five suspects with the vehicle are still at large.

Should anyone have information leading to the arrests of these armed robbers, Det. Sgt Relebohile Molefe of the Vehicle Crime Investigation unit can be contacted on 076-791-5645 or Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
