Two men have been arrested and a vehicle believed to have been stolen in Bloemfontein has been recovered after police intercepted the suspects on the R82 near Kragbron.
The suspects, aged 42 and 46, were arrested shortly after midnight on Tuesday, 2 June, following an operation by members of the Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol and the Sasolburg Public Order Policing Unit.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said officers received intelligence that a grey GWM bakkie, reported stolen within the Park Road policing precinct in Bloemfontein, was travelling towards Sasolburg.
Police established a waylay operation along the R82. The vehicle was intercepted near Kragbron, where officers arrested the two occupants without incident.
The vehicle was seized as evidence and forms part of an ongoing investigation.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft of the vehicle are continuing.
