A 91-year-old woman and her 11-year-old great-granddaughter died in a gruesome car crash near the Kariega River Bridge yesterday, April 10.
Shortly after 16:30, the family of four were on their way home from Gauteng to Jeffrey’s Bay when the driver allegedly lost control of her Mazda 2. The vehicle left the road and landed in an open field.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the driver’s mother, Emma Jacobs and her granddaughter, Mishka Beukes, died on impact.
The driver (67) and her other granddaughter (9) were taken to hospital before police arrived at the scene.
“A case of culpable homicide is under investigation,” Naidu said.
