A 34-year-old woman was hit by a train as she crossed the
railway line at Despatch Station just after 06:15 this morning, 19 July.
A statement from the South African Police Service indicates
that the woman is believed to have worked at a nearby crèche and that while she
was attempting to cross the railway line, an incoming train from Gqeberha
bumped her. She passed away at the scene.
The identity of the deceased cannot be released until her
next of kin have been informed.
An inquest case into her death was opened at Despatch SAPS.
