A special mention was made to Brigadier André Swart, who played a significant role in Warrant Officer Khan’s life. “Thank you for the role you played in my life,” Khan acknowledged, showing gratitude for the impact of supportive leadership in his career.

One particular incident stood out in Warrant Officer Khan’s memory, detailing the support he received from his superiors. “My late father fell ill, and I had to leave Kariega in a hurry for Johannesburg. At the time, I applied for only a week’s leave. When I got to Johannesburg, I ended up staying for a month. Brigadier Andre Swart, when I phoned you to extend my leave, you did not hesitate to grant me more days. I will never forget that day,” he recalled.
