UNION Cricket Club is proud to announce that Zarier Sirkhotte will be returning to his roots and coaching at the club.

Club chairman Asad Ravat said, “Zarier is well sought after by many of the top clubs in the Eastern Cape. In the end and to our advantage, he has chosen Union to carry on his legacy.”

Sirkotte’s proud coaching record between 2010 and 2014 at Union will be extended as he guides the club’s cricket programme towards premier league status. The plans include building a solid foundation among the other leagues and strengthening the junior programme.

Sirkotte’s track record speaks for itself, with over 15 years of coaching experience and many highlights.

Most recently, he coached a premier league team to win the Mayoral Cup and then represented the Warriors franchise in the Community Cup against the best clubs in the country in Pretoria.

In 2018/19 Sirkhotte was voted as Club Coach of the Year by Eastern Province Cricket.

Several players that Sirkhotte has coached, on private, school and club level, have been selected to represent South Africa in the U/19 squad or they play for the Warriors or Eastern Province.

“The club executive and members are enthusiastic and 100 % behind the vision and direction that coach Zarier has in place,” said Ravat.

“We look forward to an exciting 2020/21 season at Union Cricket Club.”

Sirkhotte is also director of cricket at Daniel Pienaar Technical High School.
