For more than two years, the budding sports stars of Uitenhage High School and other schools were unable to display their skills on the sports fields owing to the impact of the pandemic.

Channelling their abundant energy positively has not only allowed these talented youngsters to showcase their boundless talent, but it has also assisted them in focusing more intensely on their academic work.

It has become apparent that, given the tough economic times, many parents have been unable to purchase the required equipment/apparel for their children.

In many instances, the boys and girls of Uitenhage High School had to play in unsuitable school and other leisure shoes, rather than the prescribed boots. This, obviously, impacted negatively on their performances on the field.

A recent drive by the non-profit organisation Uitenhage High Past Pupils and Teachers Association (UHPPTA) resulted in the purchase of several sports item for the use of these learners. This effort was made possible largely through the monthly debit order system of UHPPTA.

In terms of this system anyone with an interest in supporting the activities of the school and its stakeholders (learners, staff) may contribute monthly/annually an amount they can afford.

The organisation undertakes to duly acknowledge such generous contributions, to use such contributions for the intended purpose and to report on all spending in a responsible, transparent manner.

  • Anyone interested in contributing to current and future UHPPTA projects may contact Roshaan Pather on 084 941 2708.
