KARIEGA – Two toddlers died simultaneously in a swimming pool in Kariega yesterday morning. According to SAPS Kariega, they were rescued by a 12-year-old cousin.
SAPS Kariega opened an inquest after two toddlers drowned in a swimming pool in Kariega yesterday, 31 October 2025.
SAPS spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said that, according to information gathered, at approximately 11:00 SAPS members responded to a complaint of a drowning in Len Basson Street, Kariega.
On arrival, they found two toddler boys, Cairo-Asher Sauls (3) and Shyloh Sauls (2), who were cousins, had already been taken out of the pool by a 12-year-old cousin. Both toddlers passed away.
An inquest investigation is ongoing.
