TWO schools from Uitenhage and Kirkwood are included in the top 50 performing schools in the Eastern Cape.

According to the technical report issued by the province’s department of education, Riebeek College Girls’ High School and Kirkwood High School, feature among the 43 schools which achieved 100% pass rates in the 2019 national senior certificate exams. Riebeek for the past three years obtained a 100% pass rate.

Three schools from Nelson Mandela Bay district feature among the worst 50 performing schools of the province. One of them being a school from Uitenhage, Thanduxolo Senior Secondary School, which achieved a pass rate of 28.6%.

Here are the pass rates of some of the other schools in the Uitenhage, Despatch and Kirkwood areas: Brandwag (98.1%); Daniel Pienaar THS (87.6%); Gamble Street Secondary (68%); Hoërskool Despatch (93.2%) John Walton Senior Secondary School (79.2%); Limekhaya Secondary School (75%); Mary Mount RC Secondary School (68.3%); McCarthy Comprehensive School (56%); Molly Blackburn (70.6%); Moses Mabhida Senior Secondary School – Kirkwood (61.5%); Muir College (91.4%); Rocklands Intermediate School (83.3%); Sisonke Senior Secondary School (57.6%); Solomon Mahlangu Senior Secondary School (64.1%); St Colmcille Senior Secondary School – Kirkwood (91.3%); Strelitzia High School (75.9%); Uitenhage Senior Secondary School (74.2%); VM Kwinana Senior Secondary School (85.7%).
