THE Safer Festive Season Operations continued in the Uitenhage Cluster last week and a total of 224 suspects were arrested on charges ranging from house breaking and theft, robbery aggravating, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm to theft.

According to police spokesperson Captain Gerdag Swart, sixteen (16) suspects were arrested for the illegal possession of drugs, two persons were arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of liquor and one suspect was arrested for being illegally in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

In total, 52 traffic related fines were issued, valued at more than R26 000.

Detectives from the Uitenhage Cluster arrested 30 suspects for crimes ranging from murder, house robbery, attempted murder, contravention of protection orders, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm to house breaking and theft.

The police encourage the community to work with them in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of those involved in crime.
