PROPERTY professional Kevin Shelver from RE/MAX Above and Beyond, Uitenhage has received the Chairman’s Club Award for his exceptional performance in the real estate industry for 2020.

This is a top award and Kevin has previously also received the Silver, Gold, Platinum, Millionaire’s Club awards for his outstanding performance in the industry.

“You need to walk the path with each client from the start. From signing the contract, taking the whole roller-coaster ride with them, even when sometimes it gets tough, until they have moved and settled in their new home,” says Kevin.

“It is easy to look good when the transaction is going smoothly, but you also need to stand by and assist your clients when a transaction is a bit more troublesome.”

Buyers’ as well as sellers’ market

According to him, it’s now the first time in 30 years, that the real estate industry offers not just a buyers’ market, but also a sellers’ market.

“Property owners currently get more for their properties than what they think they are worth.”

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, at the beginning of June 2020 when Lockdown Level 3 commenced and estate agents were once again allowed to start working, Kevin sold eight properties during that month.

“Since then there has been a boom in the local real estate market, and we do not have enough stock. When I get a property, I sell it the same day.

“The 7% interest rate has changed the whole COVID-19 pandemic dilemma and is the main reason for the revived property industry. People who used to rent can now buy.

“This of course also causes a lot of uncertainty as property owners do not know whether they must sell … still hang on and wait another year … or is now the time to do it?”

Passion for property

Kevin has been in sales for the past 20 years. During 2016 he left his corporate job in the building industry to join the real estate industry. Since then he has been averaging real estate sales of 30 to 40 properties per annum.

“It has been very rewarding. Once I experienced the feel of a good sale, it was like fuel on fire. I mean if you do not sell – you do not earn. One can only achieve success if one has a passion for property and enjoys the benefit of referrals and the support of customers in one’sr region.”

Professional service to Kevin is most important. “I’ve learnt a lot about service whilst in being a Sales representative. The worst thing ever to do is to give bad service, as you will never win that person’s trust again. You have one chance to make an impression, and each time you need to give of your best.

Let Kevin turn your for sale into sold

Kevin wishes to thank all his loyal clients, “They know who they are. It has been and still is tough to survive amidst this COVID-19 pandemic, but we need to keep focussing on the positive and the good. We must ensure during these exceptional times that the uncertainty and the chaotic, and heart-breaking moments do not prevent life from continuing as normal. There is still light at the end of the tunnel.”

Kevin knows the Uitenhage and Despatch real estate market and taps his energy from the adrenaline he enjoys with each sale. No wonder his mates on Facebook wrote the following about him: “Daardie grootbek van Despatch verkoop so baie huise want hy praat so baie!”

Kevin said, “I will never do anything else. This is an awesome career journey. People and real estate are my passion. This is what makes me happy.
