The Eastern Cape police in the Sarah Baartman District have
launched a manhunt for armed suspects following a house robbery at a farmhouse
in Kirkwood on Monday, November 2. 

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli, on
Monday at about 19:40, it is alleged that a couple was returning to their home
(a farmhouse) in Tregaeron area, Kirkwood, when a group of at least five armed
men, who were wearing balaclavas, attacked them.

He said it is alleged that the couple was beaten and forced
into the house at gunpoint.

“The victims were then tied with cables and a binding wire.
The suspects then managed to steal two firearms, cash and four cell phones
before fleeing the scene,” said Nkohli.

He said moments later, the victims managed to free
themselves and alerted their employees, who assisted in contacting the
police. 

“The victims sustained minor injuries during the incident,”
said Nkohli.

A case of house robbery was opened for further
investigation. 

Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to
the arrest of the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Detective
Captain Freddie Moss at 082 319 9227. The information may also be shared via
Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
