KARIEGA – Young readers and their families are invited to spend a day immersed in the wonderful world of books when the Uitenhage Drostdy Museum Reading Festival takes place on Thursday, 13 August at the Drostdy Museum in Kariega.

The festival has been created to inspire a love of reading in children from Grade R to Grade 7 through a programme of interactive literacy activities. Learners will enjoy storytelling sessions, poetry, author read-alouds, Braille reading demonstrations, creative activities and interactive reading circles.

Organisers hope the festival will bring together schools, families and the wider community in celebrating the important role that reading plays in every child’s education and future.

Visitors are also encouraged to support the festival’s “Donate a Book, Share a Story” initiative by donating good-quality children’s books. These books will be placed on the festival’s Book Swap Table, giving young readers the opportunity to take home a different story and share in the joy of reading.
