The sixth Eastern Cape Film Festival will be held from 6-10 December at the Film Hub in East London. Although this year it will be a virtual festival, it annually offers a platform drawing filmmakers, professional and aspirant, as well as industry experts to be part of conversations of filmmaking in the Eastern Cape as an economic sector, capacitation, screenings, and networking.
“Kumkani FM and Mpuma Kapa TV (Former BAY TV) confirmed on Monday that they will be part of the festival, this means people with no data will still be able to be part of the festival by watching channel 206 on DStv and on radio,” said Nceba Mqolomba, Director: Eastern Cape Film Festival.
According to Mqolomba, the main objective of the festival is to tell stories through film and to create a platform for the provincial filmmakers to showcase their work, acquire skills and to network.
“The secondary objectives are to position filmmaking as one of the key sectors of job creation, to promote tourism, social cohesion, moral regeneration, development of small towns’ economies and to make the Eastern Cape a film destination,” said Mqolomba.
