In Concert, Nelson Mandela University Symphony Orchestra’s newest and biggest production yet, presented in collaboration with Rhodes University Orchestra, promises to be a sensation.

The ensemble of more than 50 musicians will be conducted by Marvin Kernelle, chorus master of the award-winning Cape Town Opera Choir. In addition to the world premiere of Moments for Orchestra, a brand-new orchestral work by South African composer Arthur Feder, audiences will be treated to music by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Elgar, and Dvorak.

Soprano Lindokuhle Gushu, a Master’s in Music student at Nelson Mandela University and one of four soloists featured in this production, will move listeners with her rendition of Catalani’s achingly beautiful aria Ebben! Ne Andro Lontana. In Concert will be held on Sunday, 2 October at 14:00 in the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased for R80 (adults) & R50 (pensioners, scholars, and students) through the Department of Music and Performing Arts or at the door.
