The SAPS Provincial Organised Crime: Anti-Gang Unit is investigating a double murder and attempted murder incident following a shooting on Saturday, July 5 in Kamesh, Kariega.

According to SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, preliminary reports indicate that on Sunday, July 6, at approximately 02:40, SAPS Kamesh responded to a shooting complaint at a residence on Pompano Crescent, Tiryville, Kariega.

“Upon arrival, members were informed that unknown suspects forcibly kicked open the front door of the house. The suspects proceeded to a bedroom where three female occupants were present and opened fire,” she said.

Janse Van Rensburg added, “The victims are identified as Fredirika Booysen (46) and Teresa Pullen (32). Both women sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene. A third victim, a woman in her 30s, was wounded and transported to a hospital for treatment.”

She added that the motive for the murder and attempted murder is unclear at this stage, however, a police investigation is underway.
