AN initiative “Run 4 Lauren” has it at heart to inspire a whole community to get active and help raise funds to bring back home a young woman from Uitenhage who is stranded in Peru.
Lauren Kroutz (20) a former Uiten-hage High learner is one of five South Africans stranded in Lima, Peru during the world wide Covid-19 lockdown. She has a return ticket to South Africa, but owing to the lockdown restrictions, she is unable to use it.
The only option for her at the moment to get back home, will be with a charter plane of which a single ticket costs approximately R40 000.
The idea is to have a virtual 5km run/walk in residents’ own backyards or driveways.
All you need to do to help get Lauren back in South Africa, is to pay a R30 registration fee to support the “Run 4 Lauren” initiative.
