The Rotary Uitenhage South club is hosting a fun-run with a twist on Saturday, February 24, at the Uitenhage Airfield. The club’s chairperson, Clive Hassell, said this fun- run is the first of its kind because instead of the proceeds going to one big cause, they will be going to each entry school or charity.
Hassell added that the reason for the Uitenhage Airfield as a venue was mainly for safety. “We want people of all ages and from all backgrounds to join in on the fun, and be and feel safe while at it. The grass field is huge and fenced, so everyone is welcome, from the youngest to the oldest.”
Apart from a day filled with fun, snacks and a sense of unity, people who successfully complete the four kilometre fun -run can look forward to amazing prizes courtesy of the fun- run’s sponsors.
“Entries are not limited to just schools. You can choose any organisation or charity of your choice as a beneficiary. The point of all of this is to get the community united in doing good, helping others the way they want to. We are just facilitating the whole thing, but it belongs to the community,” Hassell emphasised.
Tickets for entry cost R40, and entry forms can now be collected and returned at any of the fun- run’s sponsors: Klinicare Pharmacies in Kariega – Drostdy, Despatch and Levyvale; OK Minimart at Mosel; and OK Savalot in Thomas Gamble.
