The Rotary Club of Uitenhage is calling for artists of all ages to submit their work for their new Fine Arts Festival, welcoming participants from six years old to 60 and beyond.
According to Rotary President, Rynhardt Fourie, the three-day festival, taking place from 6 to 8 October at Babsies Coffee Shop in Kariega, offers local artists a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents, gain professional recognition, and earn income through artwork sales.
Artists interested in participating can obtain a detailed submission syllabus from Club Secretary Petro Fourie at rotaryuitenhageclub@gmail.com. A non-refundable entry fee is required with each submission.
“All artworks will be evaluated by a panel of professional artists, with pieces scoring 70% or higher receiving a prestigious Certificate of Achievement. The festival particularly welcomes submissions from artists with special needs, ensuring inclusive participation across the community,” he added.
“We believe artistic talent knows no age, and this festival is a vibrant celebration of that belief,” said Fourie, while highlighting the event’s mission to provide emerging and experienced artists alike with exposure and recognition.
The initiative forms part of the club’s broader commitment to community development through the arts, offering creators a professional platform to connect with art lovers, families, schools, and local businesses.

“As a non-profit organisation, the Rotary Club will direct all festival proceeds towards community development projects benefiting Kariega and Despatch residents,” Fourie said.
Festival-goers can also participate in a lucky draw for three Babsies meal vouchers, with R10 tickets available from 4 August 2025 at Drostdy Protective Workshop, Babsies Coffee Shop, Ranger’s Motor Spares, or directly from Petro Fourie.
