After cycling for 40 hours and 42 minutes from Johannesburg to Kariega to raise funds for the revamp of the bathrooms at Innes Primary School, on August 5, cycle enthusiast Johan Oosthuizen was welcomed by a huge cacophony and was handed a large cheque from the Rotary Club of Uitenhage South. Through charity organisation, Fuel on Wheels, Oosthuizen and his team had planned to raise R100 000 to revamp the bathrooms at Innes Primary which are in a dire state. To raise the necessary funds, he hopped on to his bicycle and began his 1 095km journey from Johannesburg to Kariega. After a successful cycle ride Oosthuizen was welcomed by police sirens, the Victory Riders on their motorbikes, car horns and riotous cheering from the assembled crowd. The Rotary Club of Uitenhage South had supported his journey by arranging accommodation and hospitality en route.
