A police officer was injured in a car accident yesterday, Sunday, March 6, when his Motherwell police van collided with a VW Polo.
The accident occurred at approximately 05:30 on the corner of Maku Road and Addo Road in NU2.
Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the driver of the Polo ran away but was arrested.
“The driver of the police vehicle was taken to hospital for his back. The driver of the VW Polo was arrested for drunken driving as well as reckless and negligent driving,” she said.
SAPS Ikamvelihle detectives are investigating the cases.
