SAPS in Swartkops and Kwanobuhle are investigating unrelated culpable homicide cases where three people died over the weekend.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, in the first incident, it is alleged that on Friday, October 20, at approximately 21:45, SAPS Swartkops responded to an accident on the N2 near the Markman turnoff. On arrival, they found the body of an unknown man lying in the middle of the road.
“The deceased is unknown and was wearing black jeans, a black long-sleeved t-shirt and a pair of white tekkies. No vehicles stopped to report the accident; however, a blue piece of a vehicle bumper was found on the scene,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
Anyone who can assist with any information relating to the accident or can assist with the identity of the deceased is asked to contact SAPS Swartkops, D/WO Jacques Leonard on 082 847 4756 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or the nearest police station or send information via MYSAPSAPP.

In separate incident, on Saturday, October 21, at approximately 22:25, the deceased Nomakhazana Njapha (34) was crossing Matanzima Street, Kwanobuhle, when she was hit by a white BMW coming down the street.
“Namakhazana died on the scene.
“No one was arrested, and a case of culpable homicide was opened, and the investigation is ongoing,” Janse Van Rensburg added.
Janse Van Rensburg added that on Sunday, October 22, at approximately 20:00 on the M17, Swartkops, SAPS Gqeberha Flying Squad attended to an accident.
“On arrival, they were informed that three vehicles were involved: a white Isuzu was travelling towards Motherwell on the M17, a Mercedes Benz overtook the white Isuzu and collided with a white Toyota Tazz.
The driver of the Toyota Tazz, Milton Cumbe, aged 23, passed away on the scene; the driver of the Mercedes Benz drove off and did not stop.”
