Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed, or who is able to assist with information about an accident in Durban Street, Kariega, where a pedestrian was fatally injured, at about 18:00 on Friday, 26 August.

Detectives are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the pedestrian Malusi Saki (28), was crossing the road, and collided with a white VW Citi Golf. Saki died on the scene.

According to police information, a community member noticed something lying in Durban Road and established that it was the body of a male.

The community member immediately informed the police.

“Investigations revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the road when he was allegedly hit by a white VW Citi Golf. It is further alleged that a second vehicle, a white Isuzu single cab then also drove over the victim. Both drivers failed to stop at the accident scene,” said police spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart.
