ASPIRING Eastern Cape screenwriters are invited to apply for a two-month script development process under guidance of the National Film and Video Foundation-accredited trainers.
Ten emerging writers will have the opportunity to take their short film concepts through a full industry development process up to second draft script stage, ready to pitch to producers.
According to Nceba Mqolomba, Director: Eastern Cape Film Festival, the Intensive Scriptwriting Incubator – Write a Short Film programme, will be fully sponsored (besides data) at no cost to the participants, but successful candidates will have to commit to completing the course.
The programme will be hosted during May and June 2021 and attendance of all sessions is required.
“Applicants will be asked to provide their personal details and will have to motivate their application. They will also be required to upload the task of writing a single scene of 1-2 pages using the following as their starting point: ‘Mo urgently needs Thami’s advice, but Thami has a shameful secret.’”
The requirements for applicants are: SA citizenship, evidence of birth in the Eastern Cape, ownership of a computer or laptop, reliable access to internet. Some practical experience in the film and television industry is recommended.
