DESPATCH Community Policing Forum recently elected its new leadership consisting of ten members serving the communities of Despatch (town), Khayamnandi, Bay Land, Mahashe and Kingstown. The team of diverse community leaders are led by CPF chairman, Sandile Adam.
“The Despatch CPF took a position to endeavour the establishment and strengthen relations amongst citizens, police and neighbourhood-watch against lawlessness in Despatch,” said Adam.
“Our first CPF meeting identified amongst others, that people should actively participate in the fight against COVID-19 by adhering to the curfew (22:00 – 04:00) and shop owners and taverns should close as they are legally obliged.”
According to Adam they requested local businesses to put in place stringent measures by implementing and adhering to social distance and all other COVID-19 regulations. A huge concern is the masses of people not adhering to the COVID-19 regulations, whilst waiting at the Despatch Post Office for their R350 COVID relief money.
“We as the Despatch CPF leadership promise to serve our communities to our best ability, but success will be realized when every resident participates and attends the quarterly meetings moving forward.
“The Despatch CPF wish for all residents of Despatch a happy Christmas season. We also wish them to take extra precaution against COVID-19 as figures indicate an alarming increase in infections in the area,” said Adam.
