OWING to the great success of the Rotary Club of Uitenhage South’s first International Music Quiz, enough funds were raised to distribute 9 650 meals to the less fortunate.

With the funds raised through the fun event, the Rotary Club of Uitenhage South managed to purchase half a ton of fortified porridge.

“This had to be packed into packets for distribution. Club members as well as volunteers assisted with packaging 1 930 packets (9 650 meals),” said Rotarian Clive Hassel, spokesperson of the Rotary Club of Uitenhage South.

“These meals will be delivered in due course to those in need in the Uitenhage region.”

The music quiz was held during COVID-19 lockdown in August.

A second music quiz was held at the beginning of October where the Rotarians raised additional funds for the food project.

According to Hassel, the Club plans to host another music quiz during December, with a Christmas theme.

“The past two events have been a lot of fun, so the public are invited to please join us next time,” said Hassel.
