KARIEGA – Muir College Boys’ High School is celebrating another outstanding academic achievement after Grade 12 learner Kyle Hennings earned an aggregate of 87%, securing the prestigious white Honours Blazer for academics.

Hennings was awarded the Honours Blazer at this year’s Muir College Founders’ Day celebrations, where the achievement was met with a standing ovation from the school community as he was presented with the blazer.

According to the school, Hennings has consistently been among the school’s top academic achievers, with the Honours Blazer recognising his continued dedication and commitment to academic excellence.

The achievement follows that of Sabir Hippolyte, who received the Honours Blazer for academics last year, marking the second consecutive year in which a Muir College learner has reached the level required for the distinction.

Muir College said the current criterion for receiving an Honours Blazer for academics is an aggregate of 86.6% across two examinations in Grade 12.

The school added that academic excellence remained a significant part of its culture and that achievements such as Hennings’ were celebrated throughout the school community.

“Achievements of this nature are celebrated by the school community, and it is encouraging for younger learners to see what can be achieved through consistent hard work and commitment,” the school said.

Hennings’ achievement is therefore not only a personal milestone but also serves as an example to other learners working towards their own academic goals. The awarding of Honours Blazers in consecutive years was also seen as a positive reflection of the school’s efforts to foster a culture of academic achievement.

“We are exceptionally proud to award another Honours Blazer for academics, particularly following Sabir Hippolyte’s achievement last year,” the school said. “Having learners reach this level in consecutive years speaks positively to the culture of academic excellence we continue to encourage at Muir College.”

The school said Hennings’ recognition reflected his sustained academic performance rather than a sudden improvement in his marks.

For Hennings, the Honours Blazer represents recognition of years of consistent effort and academic commitment, while for the broader Muir College Boys’ High School community, his achievement provides further encouragement for learners to strive for excellence.
