Arch rivals, radio host, Mafa Bavuma and celebrity medical practitioner, Dr. Mthembeni Tebelele will have many in stitches as they take jabs at each other in an event in November.
The event, dubbed Roast of Dr Tebelele and Mafa Bavuma, promises to be a laughter festival. It will take place in Gqeberha on November 25 with several build-up events throughout the year.
The two have been beefing with each other for months now, and this will be a good opportunity for them to give it to each other in a no-holds-barred roast.
The show will feature well-known Gqeberha comedians, including a number of local comedians and surprise celebrity guests.
Though the show will be a comedy affair, it will also infuse education on health and sexual issues.
Speaking at the press briefing, Mafa Bavuma said that the event aims to revive the Gqeberha comedy scene while rehabilitating communities through laughter.
“Gqeberha is known for being the breeding place for comedy. The city has given birth to several famous funny men, including Loyiso Gola, and has hosted big festivals, including the famous 99% Xhosa Comedy.
“This Roast will be the first-ever comedy show of this kind in Gqeberha. It will also infuse issues about sexual health hilariously,” he said.
“Many people are uncomfortable talking about sex; this show will help comfortably deliver sexual education,” Tebelele added.
“We want people to learn about sexual health and the negative impact of non-communicable diseases while giggling in guffaws as we believe learning is easy with an elevated mood, hence my teaming up with Roast of Dr. Tebelele and Mafa Bavuma.”
Roast of Dr Tebelele and Mafa Bavuma will be held at the Nangoza Jebe Hall. Early bird tickets are now available at Computicket.
