THE popular annual Speedyquip Cars & Coffee event to which all motor enthusiasts are invited to show off their own vehicles whilst enjoying complimentary coffee and biscuits, will be held tomorrow from 08:00 to 12:00 at Speedyquip, 3 Prince Alfred Road in North End, Gqeberha.

Any vehicles are welcome, old, new, classic, customized, or exotic. All interested are invited, at no charge to attend or to view, and there will be lots of lucky draws.

Two of the interesting cars to view include a 1983 Porsche GTS 928 and a 1948 Anglia. These two cars belong to Piet Westraadt, formerly from Despatch, now living in the peaceful surroundings of Steytlerville.

The Porsche has a Ford 351 high performance motor hiding under its bonnet.

The car is fitted with extra-wide tyres for traction. The rear tyres are 315/60/18 and the front tyres 265/40/18.

“Its exhaust is just headers with no silencers, as they believe ‘loud pipes save lives’,” said Jerome Erskine from Speedyquip.

Westraad’s 1948 Anglia is fitted with a Ford 302 high performance motor that pushes over 500 h/p on the flywheel.
