Ebrahim Wicks has been chosen as a Mr Global South Africa finalist to take place on August 3.

Kariega-bred model, Ebrahim Wicks has made it to the final stage of the Mr Global South Africa, which is set to take place on August 3 at the Monte de Dios Wedding and Conference Venue in Pretoria.

Unchained Models South Africa founder started modelling at the tender age of 7, winning his first competition, Model of the Year, hosted by Style Models.

The Mr Global South Africa 2024 had chosen its semi-finalists in March and contestants were required to perform a series of challenges, including charity events and fundraising efforts. Wicks relied heavily on public votes to secure him a spot in the next round.

According to Wicks, the preparation of the competition has been amazing. The support he has received from Kariega residents has given him more courage to embrace his strengths.

He said, “during my journey I could see the impact that I could make and the difference I can achieve with such an amazing platform.”

He added , “Since my parents passed away within two years of each other, I decided to showcase my potential to the broader South Africa by entering bigger competitions.”

Through his knowledge and experience, Wicks aims to use his voice to advocate for anyone going through difficulties.

Wicks said, “I have knowledge and experience gained within the industry, and I am focusing on mental health.”

He added,

People face challenges such as teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, gender-based violence and many more. I can be the voice helping them, no matter the circumstances, I can be the voice to create awareness on anything mental health related and can refer them to the relevant people.

Wicks has participated in various modelling competitions including, Mr South Africa, Mr India South Africa and now, the Mister Global South Africa 2024. Through his involvement in these competitions, he can groom young individuals to equip them with how to survive in the entertainment industry and provide guidance to those in need.

“I can refer the youth to relevant people such as FGTV, directed by Zakeeya Patel and Craig Ramnarian who run Mr & Miss National Supreme South Africa. With my knowledge from my participation, I can guide new models that would like to go into the industry,” he said.

His charity, Uitenhage Mental Health Homes and More Balls Than Most, have received sponsors and donations from Shoprite, which assisted the home with food.

“I will be going to various schools in Kariega to spread awareness of testicular cancer and raise funds with a R5 contribution per student. This will be given to More Balls Than Most,” Wicks added.

Furthermore, Wicks awaits the Department of Agriculture for seeds to plant fresh vegetables for the Uitenhage Mental Health Home. He will also advertise Kariega school contribution percentages on his social media platforms and it will also be shared on the Mister Global South Africa social media platforms.

“With my community behind me, I know I can represent our beautiful town well. I believe with your heart filled with love and having a positive mindset, you can conquer the world. Wherever I leave my footprints, be assured that I have made a change,” said Wicks.
