REGULAR visitors to the libraries in Uitenhage and Despatch are encouraged by the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality to continue to utilize the electronic library whilst the traditional libraries will still be closed for an unforeseen period.
Mamela Ndamase, communications and media management officer of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality said, “Unfortunately the municipality is not ready to open the libraries just yet.
“They are working tirelessly to ensure that all libraries are COVID-19 compliant before the official opening for the safety of both the public and the staff.”
According to Ndamase, the Wellness Unit is also conducting health and safety risk assessments at all libraries and upon the submission of that report, the municipality will have to implement the recommendations.
“This is in addition to other engagements and interventions internally and with the provincial Government,” said Ndamase.
