The success of a convenience neighbourhood shop is more than just ample and safe parking, it is about providing an attractive shopping environment with the emphasis on quality products and freshness and of course happy staff members.
This is exactly the philosophy of Joss Blow and Paul Engler, new owners of Levyvale SuperSpar, who added that they would also continuously change and improve their product range to deliver even better service to suit the changing lifestyles of their clients.
Both Joss and Paul are Old Muirites and matriculated from Muir College in 1988. They were both also keen Jam Jar Rally participants, with Paul being the organiser of this annual very challenging and “unusual” fun charity motoring event.
“It was actually at a Jam Jar that Paul said he would like to buy a Spar. I said well, I know about the perfect SuperSpar to buy, as I knew that Daan and Adri wanted to retire. And so we have become the new owners of Levyvale,” said Joss, a chartered accountant by profession.
The Muir and Jam Jar comrades took over ownership of Levyvale SuperSpar on 15th March 2022.
“It really has been exciting so far. We have brought in new products, new excitement by challenging different instore departments (bakery, deli, butchery, and fresh produce) to try new recipes and displays, and also to have good prices, which currently is the highlight of our launch, offering more products per basket at affordable prices.
“It is also very important that the staff must love the company, then they will love working and be a happy team. Especially here, as we rely 100% on our staff as they are the heart of this store. Thus, we spoil them with birthday vouchers and reward good things they do with incentives.”
The Levyvale SuperSpar entrance offers a new vibe with themes suiting either calendar or social events or promoting new product ranges. Aisles have been revamped, opened-up, repacked and streamlined for a better shopping atmosphere and the loyalty card system has started. Soon the “snake” queuing system at the tills will be implemented.
As part of Levyvale SuperSpar’s social corporate investments they support various schools as well as Huis Minette (mentally challenged adults).
Levyvale SuperSpar from today until Sunday offers various special promotions, tasting sites, special prices and lots of lucky prizes, give-aways, pop-the-balloon, fun for kids like Popsi the Clown and jumping castles, all being part of the store’s launch weekend in welcoming new owners Joss and Paul to the neighbourhood.
