detectives are investigating a case of murder and house robbery after Xhobani
Maya (36) was fatally shot during a home invasion in Kariega in the early hours
of this morning, September 8.
According to
police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, it is alleged that at
about 02:30 this morning, in Tolbos Street, Strelitzia Park, a boy (14) heard
fiddling at the door and immediately thereafter a brick was thrown through a
bedroom window.
She said that
the teenager ran into his parent’s room, and they locked the door.
“The door was
kicked open and shots were fired,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
She further
said that the boy’s father, Maya, sustained a gunshot wound and succumbed to
his injuries.
Janse Van
Rensburg said that the three suspects took a TV set, PlayStation, and cell
phones.
She said that after
they left, Maya’s wife contacted the security company.
“The
investigation is continuing,” said Janse Van Rensburg.
