The inaugural Kariega International Film Festival (KIFF) will be hosted by the Wild Sunshine Media, a nonprofit company working in the arts and media sector, at Barkly Street Theatre on Sunday and Monday.

The festival, which starts Sunday evening after the Kariega Book and Arts Fair, will showcase the work of filmmakers from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Sierra Leone.

On Monday, the first half of the day is reserved for workshops at R100 per person (an acting workshop, screenwriters workshop and film director’s workshop) and late afternoon and evening is devoted to film screenings and table reads.

The event closes with an awards ceremony and cocktail hour. Except for workshops, entrance to the event is free.

Sunday, 15 May 18:00-22:00; Monday, 16 May 10:00-22:00 (awards at 21:00). For more information contact Adelle Gascoyne (organiser) 081 567 0640.
