The Uitenhage Lions Club will be hosting a potjie competition in partnership with DKT Engineering.
“Thanks to the generosity of DKT Engineering we are able to offer a first prize of R3 000 and a second prize of R2 000,” said project co-ordinator Kirsten McLaren.
The competition takes place on May 13 at the Despatch Bowling Club. “The entry fee will be R200 per team of four,” says McLaren.
“We will also have a trivia competition with a twist on the day. The entry fee for this will be R50 per team of two and it promises to be a lot of fun.”
The master potjie cook, Deon Strydom, will also be cooking a pot which will be for sale to the public.
Entry forms and rules are available at Moore’s Butchery in Kariega. Interested persons can also visit the Uitenhage Lions Facebook page or contact Kirsten on 073 465 1818. The number of entries is limited to 50 teams and the cut-off date is Tuesday, May 9.
All proceeds from the competition will go towards the various service projects of Lions in the Kariega and Despatch areas.
